Education is one of the most powerful tools for change, but for many students from humble backgrounds, even basic resources like a laptop can feel out of reach. Recently, the Rotary Club of Ulsoor had the privilege of turning one such need into a story of generosity, community, and hope.
The Request
Ms. Rakshitha G, a final-year B.Com student at St. Anne’s Degree College for Women, Halasuru Branch, reached out to Rotary with a simple yet heartfelt request. Coming from a modest, middle-class family, she explained that a laptop had become essential for her academics — attending online classes, completing assignments and projects, conducting research, and building the technical skills she would need for her future. Without the means to purchase one on her own, she hoped Rotary could help make her educational journey a little easier.
Rotary Answers the Call
When Rotary Ulsoor raised this request within its network, the response was immediate and heartwarming, with two organisations stepping forward to support the cause — Sakthi Accumulators Private Limited and SenseEdge Transportation Systems and Solutions Private Limited.
The laptop was handed over to Rakshitha in a moment filled with genuine emotion. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she thanked her sponsors and the Rotary members wholeheartedly, expressing how much this support meant to her and her family. It was a powerful reminder of how a single act of kindness can transform a student’s confidence and future.
Rotary Ulsoor’s work doesn’t stop here. With two more laptops still available from this drive, the club will now identify another deserving beneficiaries to continue this chain of support. The remaining laptops will be directed toward students studying in rural Karnataka, ensuring that the benefits of this initiative reach beyond the city and touch the lives of young learners who need it most.
